Gerhard Rünstler

My current postion is Senior Lead Economist at the ECB in the Monetary Policy Research Division. After studies in math and social sciences I joined the postgraduate progamme in economics at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna and specialised in time series econometrics. After a 5 year assistant professor at this institute and a position at the Austrian National Bank I joined the ECB in 1999. My major work includes unobserved components models, nowcasting via dynamic factor models, structural VARs, the analysis of monetary and macroprudential policies, and macroeconomic analysis and forecasting.
