Paula von Haaren

Ms. von Haaren studied Economics at the University of Heidelberg and Development Economics at Göttingen University. During her studies, she worked as a research assistant for both universities and the Courant Research Center for Poverty, Inequality and Growth. Ms. von Haaren gathered relevant practical experience in international and development cooperation during several internships and research stays at the German Development Bank (KfW), the United Nations Research Institute for Justice and Crime (UNICRI) in Turin, the International Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar and large-scale household level data collection for her research in Bihar, India. In her research, she seeks to understand poverty and inequality and their connection to female empowerment, health and social capital. A further focus of her research lies on the evaluation of welfare policies aiming to improve the lives of the poor, such as cash transfers.
