Petra Cavalca
University of CopenhagenPetra Cavalca is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Copenhagen, doing applied research in the field of labor and family economics. She is interested in inequality in child welfare and child development. Petra’s current research is concerned with evaluating the effectiveness of foster care, an intervention with the goal of improving conditions and opportunities for children experiencing neglect or abuse at home. Her research evolves around the effectiveness of such interventions with respect to children’s welfare, the economic incentives for foster parenting and the effect of institutional incentives on foster care decisions. In her research, Petra primarily relies on longitudinal Danish administrative data to gain insight into the complexity of the foster care system.
