Rafat is in her final year in PhD studies in Economics at UWA. Earlier she completed both her Masters and M.Phil in Economics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan and is currently employed at a public policy think tank in Pakistan. Her primary research interests include Development Economics and Political Economy. In her three dissertation papers, she is exploring the relationship of terrorism with communications technology, drone strikes and religious seminaries, respectively.
