Alistair Macaulay

I am a PhD student in Economics at the University of Oxford, interested in macroeconomics, information economics, and household finance. I work on the macroeconomic implications of state-dependent information choices. My research was selected for the 2020 finals of the Society for Computational Economics Student Paper Contest and the ECB Young Economists’ Competition. I will join St. Anne’s College, University of Oxford in October as a postdoctoral Junior Research Fellow.

Gaelan MacKenzie

Gaelan MacKenzie is a Senior Economist at the Bank of Canada. His research focuses on international trade with an overlap with macroeconomics, the economics of innovation, and industrial organization. He received a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Toronto in 2020.

Chiara Maggi

I am a macroeconomist. My research studies how accounting for different dimensions of firm heterogeneity, especially size and market shares, matters for macro dynamics. I work in the Research Department of the International Monetary Fund and I have a PhD in Economics from Northwestern University.

Rafat Mahmood

Rafat is in her final year in PhD studies in Economics at UWA. Earlier she completed both her Masters and M.Phil in Economics from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan and is currently employed at a public policy think tank in Pakistan. Her primary research interests include Development Economics and Political Economy. In her three dissertation papers, she is exploring the relationship of terrorism with communications technology, drone strikes and religious seminaries, respectively.

Mahreen Mahmud

Mahreen Mahmud is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Development Economics at the Centre for the Study of African Economies, University of Oxford. She has a PhD in Economics from the University of Kent. She works on topics related to development and behavioural economics with field experiments in Kenya, Pakistan, South Africa and Uganda.

Patrick Maier

Joana Elisa Maldonado

Joana Elisa Maldonado is a PhD student at the University of Leuven. Her research focuses on education economics and in particular, parental involvement in education. In her research, she applies causal methods, such as experimental designs.

Egor Malkov

Egor Malkov is a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the University of Minnesota and Research Analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. He was born in Krasnoyarsk-26, Russia. In 2012 he earned his B.A. in Economics at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow. In 2014 he also earned M.A. in Economics there. Egor’s research interests include macroeconomics, labor economics, and public economics. In his free time, he enjoys running (completed 12 marathons), cross-country skiing, and reading.

Alina Malkova

I am a Postdoctoral Fellow in Economics at the University of Missouri. My research areas are labor and development economics with a focus on entrepreneurship, labor informality, and labor mobility. My studies examine how access to finance can influence labor market decisions. Recent projects include the effect of the shrinking of the U.S. branch network on the decline of self-employment, the link between credit market development and labor informality in Russia, the role of the informal credit market in labor market decisions, the cell phone access and financial inclusion in Nigeria, and the impact of sanctions against Russia on real wages. I received a B.S. and a M.S. in Applied Math and Physics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, a M.A. in Economics from New Economic School, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2020.

Maurizio Malpede

Maurizio Malpede is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the GREEN Center of Bocconi University and Visiting Researcher at the Laboratory for Effective Anti-poverty Policies (LEAP) at the same University. Previously, Maurizio was Junior Researcher at Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) in Milan from 2014 to 2016 and Associate Researcher from 2016 to 2018. He holds a PhD in Economics jointly awarded by Cattolica University and Bicocca University, Milan. His research mainly focuses on the roots of historical development and on the economic effects of climate and resource extraction in Sub Saharan Africa.
