Juuso Vanhala
Bank of FinlandJuuso Vanhala works as a Senior Advisor at the Monetary Policy and Research Department at the Bank of Finland. His research interests include firm growth and productivity dynamics using firm level data, search and matching models of the labour market and labor market and policy analysis using DSGE models embedding search frictions. His current responsibilities at the Bank of Finland include forecasting and monitoring the Finnish economy and the analysis of firm dynamics and labour markets from a macroeconomic perspective. He joined the Bank of Finland in 2006. He completed his doctoral studies at the University of Helsinki and University College London (UCL) and received his doctoral degree in economics in 2007. Before his current position at the Forecasting Division of Monetary Policy and Research Department at the Bank of Finland, he has worked as a Senior Research Economist at the Bank of Finland Research Unit, as an economist at the Monetary Policy and Research Department/Office for Monitoring (World Economy Team), as well as a researcher at the Department of Economics at the University of Helsinki. He is former chairman of the Finnish Economic Association.

Francesca Vinci

My research focuses on the nexus between long term growth, business cycles and monetary policy. I am also interested in structural transformation and firm dynamics. Ms. von Haaren studied Economics at the University of Heidelberg and Development Economics at Göttingen University. During her studies, she worked as a research assistant for both universities and the Courant Research Center for Poverty, Inequality and Growth. Ms. von Haaren gathered relevant practical experience in international and development cooperation during several internships and research stays at the German Development Bank (KfW), the United Nations Research Institute for Justice and Crime (UNICRI) in Turin, the International Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar and large-scale household level data collection for her research in Bihar, India. In her research, she seeks to understand poverty and inequality and their connection to female empowerment, health and social capital. A further focus of her research lies on the evaluation of welfare policies aiming to improve the lives of the poor, such as cash transfers.
