Alexander Cappelen

Alexander W. Cappelen is a professor of economics at the Department of Economics at NHN Norwegian School of Economics. He is co-director of the research group The Choice Lab and deputy director of the research center FAIR. He has worked in the fields of experimental and behavioral economics, with a focus on attitudes to economic inequality and the role of fairness considerations.

I am a PhD Candidate in Economics at the University of Warwick. In fall 2018 I visited the Center for Experimental Social Science (CESS) at New York University. My research interests are Behavioral and Experimental Economics. In particular, I work on two broad areas. First, I am interested in overconfidence and the role played by motivated beliefs. Second, I study the role of emotions in decision-making and strategic interactions.

Petra Cavalca

Petra Cavalca is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Copenhagen, doing applied research in the field of labor and family economics. She is interested in inequality in child welfare and child development. Petra’s current research is concerned with evaluating the effectiveness of foster care, an intervention with the goal of improving conditions and opportunities for children experiencing neglect or abuse at home. Her research evolves around the effectiveness of such interventions with respect to children’s welfare, the economic incentives for foster parenting and the effect of institutional incentives on foster care decisions. In her research, Petra primarily relies on longitudinal Danish administrative data to gain insight into the complexity of the foster care system.

My name is Nadia Ceschi, and I am a PhD candidate at the University of Bern. I hold an undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Zurich. My research focuses on applied microeconomic theory, in particular, the fields of industrial organization and behavioral economics.

I am a post-doctoral researcher in Economic History at the University of Zurich. My research spans political economy and economic history. More specifically, my research focuses on social conflicts, institutions and development, living standards, and social mobility. Prior to joining the University of Zurich, I obtained my PhD at the University of Geneva in 2019. I have been visiting researcher at the University of Montreal, University of Oxford, and Yeungnam University.
